STORIES YET TO BE TOLD 2021

Stories yet to be told unfolded during three different weekend symposiums for dancers, choreographers and others with relation to dance and choreography as an art form – at Aaben Dance in Roskilde 8-9th of May, Teater Momentum in Odense 22-23rd of May and Åbne Scene in Aarhus 27-27th of June 2021.

Taking place in more intimate and local settings than the events in 2018, SYT symposiums 2021 was an invitation to share stories, memories and dreams from life and work with dance, through storytelling, dancing and a choreo-graphic mapping. The project was also strongly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Through critical viewpoints, as well as artistic explorations of alternative archival methods and joint ownership of a collective history, the project furthermore shed light on the lack of documentation and archiving of dance and choreography within a Danish context.

The symposiums evolved around workshops developed and hosted by Andrea Deres, Carolina Bäckman and Stine Frandsen (with consultancy by Nanna Stigsdatter) from Danish Dance stories, as well as through workshops by dancer and choreographer Rani Nair (online) in Roskilde, dance practitioner Alice Chauchat (online) in Odense and artist Quim Bigas in Aarhus.

Stories yet to be told was funded by Statens Kunstfond and co-produced by Aaben Dans, Teater Momentum and Åbne Scene.
